 UTIs Increase In the Summer

According to the most recent research, scientists are finding an increase in people being diagnosed with urinary tract infections in the warmer months. In fact, they appear to be up to 20% more prevalent during this time. But what exactly is causing this uptick in UTI occurrences? Researchers have identified several factors that could be playing a part.

Warmer Weather and Dehydration

When the temperature begins to rise, there is a greater likelihood of becoming dehydrated. This may be the link between UTIs and summer because when people become dehydrated, they produce less urine to flush out their urinary tract. This gives bacteria the opportunity to grow and possibly cause infection.
